About the Presenter

All courses in this winter lecture series are presented by John R. Brophy, Captain (Ret), Saginaw Township Fire Department.  Captain (Ret) Brophy’s fire service experience spans 38 years and includes service as a firefighter, apparatus operator, instructor, and company officer in both New Jersey and Michigan.  Captain (Ret) Brophy holds a Master’s Degree from George Washington University and is a Fellow in the American College of Paramedic Executives.  In 2019, he received the Saginaw Exchange Club Firefighter of the Year Award.  Prior to that, in 2018, he was named Michigan’s Eastern Region Fire Instructor of the Year and the Saginaw Township Fire Department Firefighter of the Year.  He is a life member of the New Jersey State Firefighters Association and currently pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University in Chicago.
